Charles "Chuck" Lundin

Charles "Chuck" Marvin Lundin, 59 of Hazel, SD died Thursday, May 3, 2012 at his home near Hazel.
Funeral services for Mr. Lundin will be at 10:30 am Friday, May 11, 2012 at the United Methodist Church in Arlington with Pastors Gene and Marilyn Moeller officiating, burial will be in the Arlington City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-7 pm on Thursday, May 10, 2012 at the Johnson-Henry Funeral Home in Arlington and preceding services in the church on Friday. Chuck Lundin was born September 10, 1952, in Brookings hospital, the son of Marvin and Nora (Arvidson) Lundin-Olson. He grew up in Arlington, SD and graduated from Arlington High School in 1970. He married Mary (Knutson) Lundin on October 30, 1971, and entered the US Army where he served from 1972-1975. After completing his military service, he went on to finish his education and graduated from Dakota State University in 1979. He worked as an Industrial Arts teacher in Arlington for several years before moving to Sinai and opening “Chucks Woodshop and Saw Sharpening Service”. He had a passion for woodworking and some of his projects have included cedar chests, gun cabinets, furniture, knick-knacks, rocking horses, toys and a grandfather clock. He was a perfectionist in his wood working. He moved from Sinai to Volga in 1982 and began work with the United States Post Office in Brookings. He married Ardell (Poss) Lundin in 1990 and transferred to the Hazel Post office. In 1997 he moved to an acreage outside of Hazel where he has been the rural mail carrier. With his love of nature, he enjoyed the peaceful atmosphere and outdoor wildlife. He spoke very highly of his “route family” and was thankful for the generosity provided to him. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and never missed an opportunity to watch the Minnesota Twins. He has always been very proud of his kids and grandkids. He was a member of Cornerstone United Methodist Church of Watertown. Chuck was also a 29 year member of the American Legion. Thankful for sharing in his life are his children, Amy (Greg) Anderson of Hartford, SD; Charles M. Lundin II(CJ) and special friend Kristi Myhrer of Rapid City, SD; Trisha (David) Kirkland of Wiesbaden, Germany; Tacey (Doug) Dunwoody of Spearfish, SD; Courtney Lundin of Watertown, SD; his grandchildren, Tiffany, Alyssa, and Griffin Anderson, Trevor Lundin, Dawson, Dillon, and Riese Kirkland and Savanna and Alek Dunwoody; his four sisters; Judy(Larry) Hanson and Linda (LeRoy) Witt both of Spearfish, SD; Cindy (Larry) Kneip and Tammy (Greg) Roach both of Brookings, SD; his brother Ken (Cheryl) Lundin of Tea, SD; 8 nieces and nephews and 5 great nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents.
